I think everyone has breathed a sigh of relief now that the holiday rush is over. It is such a wonderful time for reconnecting, but I do relish the cleanup and reorganization after the big day has passed...sad, I know. I think it is more about trying to get my life in order than anything else. So, the need for reducing clutter also prompted us to do inventory this month! With the help of some wonderful knitting friends and our staff, we cleaned house, counted and regrouped. It feels wonderful! So, with all of the clutter tidied (except for the basement of course...never, EVER enter the basement), we are looking forward to the New Year!
The sweater classes have really taken off and we have several women busily knitting away on both cable and fair isle sweaters (or jumpers, for the Brits). The colours are beautiful and it is so rewarding to see people learning new skills. Sweaters have become a bit of scary business in the knitting world. We all have horror stories of sweaters that just don't fit and now that yarn prices have escalated, with the rising cost of wool, smaller projects are more popular. Also, we do live in an "instant gratification" culture, and waiting to finish a sweater seems like it takes FOREVER!! Thankfully, Peggy and Jeffi are navigating the waters for the intrepid sweater knitters....good work!
And some wonderful projects and events ahead of us! We will be enjoying an "Outlander" Day (dinna fash, you will be invited!), Sue will be attending TNNA this year to get the latest scoop on what's coming, we will be exploring rug hooking with yarn, attending some fiber festivals and planning for the 3rd Annual Retreat (with a very special guest!)
